Are Snapshots Dead?
That's the great question nowadays isn't it? The future is always changing and shifting and no one can ever be certain of what is going to happen or how things are going to go. All we can do is adapt.
We can only do things like embrace the technology that is flooding our industry and give parents options for digital images and packages to complement their printed memories. They need memories they can share today, and memories that they can keep and share years and years down the road. Because that's the thing with technology, it's always changing and we cannot guarantee that the pictures that we post on Facebook will be there forever, but those pictures in the drawer in the study, they can't get deleted.
We need to press that these memories that may not seem so important now, will be so important later on. One of my favorite things is looking through old pictures of my parents (I am glad I missed the 1970's short shorts on men phase, but I'm pretty sure my dad still has a couple pairs of those tucked away) and seeing their life in pictures, something I would have totally missed otherwise. Sure, they didn't have Twitter, or Facebook or even the Internet, but they adapted and saved what memories they could by printing out pictures and keeping their 'statues' on the back of those photographs.
So let's adapt together, for the good of the whole industry, and for those precious memories we can never get back, but we sure can see again.

Great Partnerships Make for Great Business
Xerox and Marco Photo Service
Look to the Future.
Marco Photo Service announced recently a partnership with Xerox as they installed their first Xerox Color 1000 Digital Press
at their facility in Mansfield OH. Digital Press products have trended sharply
up in the recent years, adding the new Xerox 1000 to Marco's printing arsenal
allows them to deliver to market more consistently the products their customers
need. According to Rick Casey, President of Marco Photo Service, Inc., our
relationship with Xerox has evolved into a partnership and this is key to the
success we have had with their equipment.
Key points that lead Marco to install the Xerox 1000 Digital
Press in their lab are the up-time and the ability for Marco to complete their
own user maintenance. “The up-time of
the Xerox 1000 was one of the main reasons we chose to install it in our
facility, because the more time the press is running, the more product we are
getting out to our customers,” said Dave Elick, Print Department Manager. “We have spare parts right here in our lab,
so if something does break or go down our highly trained staff can easily
switch out parts and get the press up and running again with minimal down
time.”
“Ease-of-use was another
key factor is our choosing this particular press because of the advanced
technology used within the press to ensure that the maximum production is
achieved. There are so many options and
additions that we can have installed at later times depending on our needs,
it’s like we have our very own personalized press,” Mr. Elick stated as he made
a couple adjustments to the new press.
Marco Photo Service is a full service photography lab, specializing
in volume production of underclass, senior, sports, dance and family portraits.
Marco's production facility is located in Mansfield, Ohio and services
independent Photography companies across the USA.
Together, Xerox and Marco look to a brighter future full of
printing the dreams and memories of parents, children and businesses
everywhere.
